The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side’s summer spending to get underway…
With Arsene Wenger’s future now assured, many in the pub are hoping that next season will prove far more fruitful than this season. The Gunners, of course, struggled to really get off the ground in the Premier League during the 2016/17 campaign – eventually finishing outside of the top four.
Undoubtedly, the same will not be tolerated next season, and so big changes will be needed on the field to ensure immediate improvement both in terms of results and performances.
It seems as though Wenger is already taking steps to ensure that that is the case next year, too, with Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol reporting that the Gunners have agreed a fee for Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru, though personal terms are yet agreed upon.
Despite the fact that there is some way to go until the Gunners confirm the deal, that hasn’t stopped the fans in the Transfer Tavern feeling excited about the move. Many are pleased that their side is getting their business done early.
Unsurprisingly, the Arsenal fans on Reddit have had a very similar reaction – with many drawing parallels to Henry Onyekuru’s namesake – Thierry Henry.
