‘I still love you’, ‘Hope you start’ – Newcastle fans on Twitter send under-fire star powerful messages

The Toon Army in the Transfer Tavern are growing increasingly concerned with their side’s abysmal run of form in recent weeks…

Rafa Benitez’s side have claimed just 1 victory from their last 11 matches in the league which has seen them fall into 16th place just two points clear of the dreaded relegation zone.

The Magpies emerged from a hectic fixture against Leicester City last weekend with nothing to show for their efforts despite taking an early lead courtesy of Joselu’s third goal of the season.

It looked as if the game was heading for a 2-2 draw with just under 5 minutes of regulatory time to play at St James’ Park, but a swift Leicester City counter-attack resulted in Ayoze Perez putting the ball into the back of his own net after making a last-ditch challenge on Shinji Okazaki.

Perez was mightily unfortunate as he simply had to make a challenge in the situation, so he will be desperate to put things right with a victory over Everton this evening.

Ahead of Newcastle’s next fixture, Perez posted a tweet to lift the spirits of supporters in anticipation for a massive night for the club.

A handful of the supporters were keen to get behind Perez and the rest of the squad ahead in response to the tweet, but plenty of others are clearly still furious about his own goal last weekend.

Here’s what the supporters had to say in response to Perez’s tweet…
