Reports are surfacing in Italy that AC Milan are looking to test the Chelsea resolve with a bid for their stalwart attacker Didier Drogba.
The story originates from the Italian sport daily the Corriere dello Sport.
The 33-year-old Ivorian Coast attacker is quoted as saying:
“I want to finish my career at Chelsea. Extend my contract?
Why not? We’ve started talks and they’re very interesting.
Everybody knows what I feel for Chelsea and what I want.”
However, as things stand with the arrival of André Villas-Boas as Chelsea manager, there is no indication as to how Drogba figures in his plans if at all.
Especially considering the arrival of Anfield reject Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku – subject to the latter’s medical.
Let’s not forget also, the emergence of youngster Daniel Sturridge who’s pre season form has been encouraging. Indications also point to the fact that Villas-Boas rates the youngster highly judging by the extent of his faith in Sturridge thus far.
To use an old cliché anything can happen in football so it’ll be interesting to see if Drogba get’s his wish, or if he’ll be shipped out.
