The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story from Jamie Jackson in The Guardian that claims Pep Guardiola’s side aren’t interested in signing Gareth Bale this summer. The Welshman showed his brilliance on Saturday when he bagged two goals off the bench in the Champions League final, leading to a handful of clubs preparing to try and prise the superstar from Los Blancos this summer.

Gareth Bale put his name on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, Manchester United and a host of other European giants when he scored one of the best goals in a Champions League final, converting a poor cross from Marcelo with a superb overhead kick. The goal has been replayed millions of times over the world since it hit the back of the net on Saturday evening. If Saturday was Bale’s last Real Madrid appearance, he can be pleased that he’s gone out with a bang.
Despite the interest in Bale from across Europe, Guardiola isn’t looking at the 28-year-old Welshman. Manchester City have been linked to a number of wingers, with Riyad Mahrez, Justin Kluivert and Leon Bailey all heavily linked with a move to Manchester this summer. Guardiola’s City amassed 100 points this season, a first in English top-flight history, and they’ll be keen to try and improve on that next season under the incredible Spaniard. Whilst improving on this season will be a tough ask, it would certainly be easier if they could rely on Gareth Bale.

We know. City don’t pay big fees for 29 year olds these days.

I’d rather have Gareth Bale over Riyad Mahrez. Especially if Mahrez costs £75m. Bale’s fee likely would only be slightly more.

Does that automatically mean the rags are now not either ?

You could @ anyone in this to be fair. In other news. Britain won’t see over 50 degrees celsius this summer
