The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are pretty shocked about these numbers…
It will come as no surprise to learn that Man Utd have spent a pretty penny in recent years, with a number of top players and managers moving to the club, but a recent report based on Der Spiegel journalists Rafael Buschmann and Michael Wulzinge’s research – and reported via by the Daily Mail – has revealed the true cost of Man Utd’s outlay.
Perhaps more interestingly, the research shines a light on the true cost of Paul Pogba – with his agent, Mino Raiola, reportedly set to receive over £40 million as a direct result of the deal over the next few years.
Certainly, agent fees are a big part of modern day football, and everybody knows that Pogba was an expensive purchase, but the size of these numbers have left the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern absolutely shocked.
After all, that sort of money is enough to buy a world-class player on its own, highlighting just how much Pogba’s agent is really earning from the deal.
Unsurprisingly, this has generated a lot of chatter in the Transfer Tavern and online, with fans on Reddit moving quickly to discuss the news.
Indeed, many are shocked at just how much has been thrown Raiola’s way, with one fan questioning if Man Utd executive Ed Woodward even bothered to negotiate the deal…
