‘Iconic’ – Man United fans on Twitter react to Jose Mourinho’s comment

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from Jose Mourinho (posted by the club’s official Twitter feed) about one of his long-standing Premier league rivals, Arsene Wenger. The two have had many heated moments on the touchline in the past, although Mourinho has shown a touch of class upon hearing the news that Wenger is moving on, wishing him the best in everything he does.

To see Jose Mourinho wish Arsene Wenger well and state that he’s happy for the Frenchman is a lovely way for the rivalry between the two tacticians to come to an end. The pair have become embroiled in a war of words on a number of different occasions and have faced each other 18 times across their careers. Of the two, Mourinho comes out comfortably on top, winning nine and losing just two of their 18 meetings whilst they’ve played out seven draws.

It can be argued that by the time Mourinho had begun his second spell at Chelsea and then moved to Manchester United his French counterpart was past his peak, although that hasn’t stopped the rivalry or the feuds between them. The pair will go down as two of the Premier League’s greatest managers and will be remembered for their rivalry with each other over the years. They’ll meet for the last time next weekend when Arsenal travel to Old Trafford in the Premier League.
