The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see things change behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge. Poor signings, managerial discontent and general disappointment are all bubbling at the club, and so something will have to change next season.
There’s a decent chance that could happen, too, given that there is a pretty major vacancy currently at the club. Chelsea have been without a director of football since the departure of Michael Emenalo late last year, and that’s a slot that will need to be filled in the future.
It’s a position that has been under increased scrutiny as of late, given some of Chelsea’s recent transfer deals, and so the Blues’ brass need to fill it correctly.
Fortunately, recent reports have indicated that some progress is being made in that regard.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea legend Michael Ballack is in the running for the job, and that’s led to a lot of happy fans over on the Chelsea page on Reddit.
Ballack is, of course, an icon at Stamford Bridge. He moved to the club in the late 2000s as a free signing, and he was quite the success. He won the Premier League and the FA Cup, among other titles, and he’s a very popular man in South West London to this day.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
