The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about the status of their strikers at present. Roberto Firmino has had a stellar first-half of the season, but beyond the Brazilian – Klopp’s options are very limited. Dominic Solanke is in the mix, but he has hardly impressed when given a chance, whilst both Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings’ fitness problems have been well documented in recent months.
According to the Telegraph, Daniel Sturridge is on the ‘verge’ of leaving Liverpool, whilst the club are apparently hesitant to let Ings leave during the same window. Clearly concerned about their lack of options going forward, the Liverpool brass don’t want to leave Klopp short.
It’s certainly an interesting situation. Neither player has been particularly reliable throughout their respective spells at Liverpool, and so losing one would only make that situation worse.
The Liverpool fans over on the Liverpool subreddit page have been discussing this report today, and it’s fair to say that fans are feeling pretty divided. With some fans desperate for Danny Ings to get a chance, and others ready to let both Sturridge and Ings quit the club, it’s clearly a divisive issue.
Most fans can agree that a new, more consistent forward is needed – but who is sacrificed to make way for that forward is a less unanimously agreed discussion.
