The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from Dutch footballing legend, Rafael Van Der Vaart as he looked back on his time at the club, speaking to FourFour Two. The attacking midfielder was at Spurs for two seasons between 2010 and 2012 and scored 28 goals in his 77 games for the club, stamping himself as a fan favourite in his short time at White Hart Lane.

Van Der Vaart has taken another step in making sure he retains the Spurs fans adoration by claiming that signing for Tottenham was the best thing to ever happen to him. Harry Redknapp opened the chequebook to bring the Real Madrid star to North London on deadline day of the transfer window in summer 2010. It was a move that neither the club, the fans or the player would regret, with the only sad thing about Van Der Vaart’s time at Spurs being that it only last two years.
The fans had every reason to love Van Der Vaart as he scored all sorts of goals. The midfielder is responsible for scoring the equaliser and setting up the winner in one of the memorable North London derbies in recent memories for our Tottenham faithful. Spurs travelled to The Emirates in November 2010 but found themselves 2-0 down at the break. Gareth Bale scored to put Spurs back in the game before Van Der Vaart took over. The flying Dutchman levelled the scores from the penalty spot before putting an inch-perfect ball onto Younes Kaboul’s head for Spurs to steal all three points.

Well tell him to get on the blower to Toby and tell him he’s making the same mistake

What a player he was. Sad that injuries limited him but even so he was brilliant.

I’d still have him back at spurs be ideal for a rotation player never had pace but a very clever player

Pretty much goes for all the players. They need to remember this.
