Everton will have their sights set on securing a European spot in the current campaign, despite dropping off the pace in recent times.
The Toffees have been completely redefined under the guidance of Marco Silva as his summer signings continue to impress at Goodison Park.
However, with the January transfer window and Christmas period here, Marcel Brands simply has to start looking at potential additions in order to increase their chances of achieving their main aims this season.
Marco Silva may have to wave goodbye to a number of players next month and could lose current first-team members to injury, but in an ideal world where departures and injuries aren’t a thing, here’s a look at what Everton’s ideal Xmas XI would look like…
EVERTON’S IDEAL XMAS XI
Jordan Pickford has been able to ensure consistency for the majority of the current campaign, so there’s no need for Everton to look at bringing in any players in that particular department.
Seamus Coleman never fails to impress down the right-hand side of the defence as a handful in attacking and defensive areas, while Lucas Digne has defied expectations on the opposite flank.
Interestingly, Yerry Mina and Michael Keane have proved all their doubters wrong so far this season as they continue to put in world-class performances.
Everton will be desperate to hold onto Andre Gomes having witnessed his incredible performances in the blue shirt this season, but they will need to bring in another central midfielder to sure things up, with Reuben Loftus-Cheek possibly being made available on loan.
The Toffees’ attacking three would consist of Bernard, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson. The latter has been on absolute fire in the current campaign, with a couple of wonder strikes to his name. Meanwhile, both Brazilian players have certainly made a name for themselves, as everything positive in the final third stems from them two.
Marco Silva has struggled to get the very best out of Cenk Tosun so far this season, so a January transfer window exit looks extremely likely at this stage. Therefore, Brands must look to firm up Everton’s reported interest in Jean-Kevin Augustin as he has all the ingredients to become a star in the Premier League.
