Ideal Xmas XI: Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur currently find themselves in a promising position in the race for a top-four spot, having ensured consistency since the North London derby defeat.

Spurs managed to make it into the knockout stages of the Champions League recently, which has provided them with the opportunity to secure silverware this season.

However, with the Christmas period bringing about the January transfer window, Mauricio Pochettino could definitely benefit from bringing in at least one player to sure things up.

The Argentine may have one eye on departures and injuries at this moment in time, but if neither factor was a worry,¬†this is what Tottenham Hotspur’s ideal Xmas XI would look like…

Hugo Lloris has bee able to ensure consistency in-between the sticks in the current campaign, which has helped Spurs work their way into the commanding position they currently find themselves in.

Kieran Trippier made all the headlines for England back in the summer at the World Cup and has carried his form with him into the current campaign, while Ben Davies has looked comfortable on the opposite flank.

As ever, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have been as solid as a rock at the heart of the defence in recent times.

Indeed, Eric Dier continues to dominate in the middle of midfield and constantly stops the opposition in their tracks, while Christian Eriksen has the ability to play as an attack-minded midfielder who can contribute heavily in the final third. And, Tottenham have been linked with a January move for Adrien Rabiot, who has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe, so he would slot right into the side.

Dele Alli took a while to get going in the current campaign but he is beginning to build up ahead of steam, with goals starting to creep back into his game on a regular basis.

Lastly, the likes of Harry Kane and Son-Heung min will line up at the pinnacle of the attack. Son has hit top form in recent times so it would be difficult to see him drop out of the side, despite Lucas Moura impressing.
