Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Roman Abramovich can come up with more goods in the summer window as the Blues look set to better last season’s disappointing league finish. Exactly who will be at the helm, we are still yet to find out.
The Blues captured Ross Barkley at the start of the window and added more to the list in the final days of the winter window. However, in this window surely the Russian tycoon must want to try and offload some deadwood hanging around Stamford Bridge and, according to our regulars anyway, there is far too much already.
Chelsea are run more like a business nowadays than it has been over the years much to the delight of some of the blues in the bar, but they do miss the days where they thought nothing of throwing money around in order to bring success to the club.
However, with balancing the books comes players that can become surplus and are needed off the wage bill, and our landlord has agreed on this one flop that the chairman simply needs to move on to start the exodus…
OUR VERDICT – David Luiz
The Brazilian hasn’t ever really recovered from the public spat he had with Conte late on last year. Since then Luiz has been injured and fallen further behind in the pecking order to rising star Andreas Christensen and in Luiz’s second spell at the Bridge, it certainly hasn’t gone as well as he had hoped.
Indeed, as he continues to age and young blood is ready to nip in his spot, it seems that time is up for the Brazilian defender.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
