Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern can look back and be proud of their accomplishments after becoming the first side in history to earn 100 points in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola’s side ran away with the Premier League title, finishing above rivals Manchester United by a massive 19 points. Their title-winning team will be remembered as one of the best ever having lost just two games all campaign. However, in Europe, City failed to impress again.
The Citizens were knocked out in the quarter-final of the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool – failing to reach the semi-finals of the competition yet again. Despite an almost perfect Premier League season, additions are needed if City are to be serious contenders in Europe.
One man Guardiola sho look to sign is Lazio striker – Ciro Immobile. Following failed spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, the Italian forward has set the Serie A alight this season, netting an incredible 41 goals in just 46 appearances for Lazio. As well as his goalscoring exploits, he has chipped in with 11 assists for his team-mates.
The 28-year-old’s market value has skyrocketed according to Transfermarkt, rising from £18m to £40.5m in just one year. He would add another quality option up top and allow Guardiola to rotate his attackers. His arrival could spell the end for Sergio Aguero who has been linked with a move away from the Etihad.
