Our Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to the summer transfer window with a slight taste of apprehension, with rumours flying around the bar that other big hitters in the league could consider bids for their top stars.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men especially can’t seem to shake the rumour surrounding a potential Man Utd switch for Eric Dier, but one punter mentioned earlier today, over a game of pool, that a better player can be found in the league to replace the England midfielder.
Idrissa Gueye has been fantastic for Everton since a move to Goodison Park from Aston Villa last year, and has drawn comparisons with PFA Player of the Year N’Golo Kante.
The Senegalese man could anchor the midfield alongside midfield star Victor Wanyama, and we think this could become one of the strongest central pairings in the game.
Spurs can’t afford to offer the wages Mourinho is likely to throw at Dier, but with a hefty transfer fee involved, we think Spurs should reinvest this pot of gold into Everton’s midfield general.
Rated at £10.2m million by Transfer Markt, Man Utd would likely be able to land him with some cash to spare, allowing Mauricio Pochettino to invest funds elsewhere.
