Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are relieved the season has finally come to an end following a dismal year under Sam Allardyce.
The ex-England manager took over from Ronald Koeman in November to steady the ship with the Toffees on the verge of a relegation battle. After improving their form, they ended the season in eighth place in the Premier League, but following protests from fans, Allardyce’s future is uncertain.
As well as the manager, Wayne Rooney could also be set to leave Goodison Park, just one year after re-joining the club from Manchester United. Signed as the replacement for Romelu Lukaku, the move has not gone to plan. After some below-par performances, Rooney could be chopped with a move to the MLS on the cards if reports are to be believed.
To replace him, Everton should move for Sevilla forward – Wissam Ben Yedder. The French forward has netted 21 goals in all competitions, including eight goals in the Champions League, meaning his value has risen to £27m according to Transfermarkt.
The Frenchman is a top finisher and would the perfect strike partner for Cenk Tosun given their different playing styles. Ben Yedder is a quick forward who is excellent on the ball while Tosun is a typical target man. Still only 27-years-old, the best could be yet to come.
If they are to challenge for the top four again, Everton need goals, and Ben Yedder could be the man to provide them.
Everton fans, thoughts?
