Liverpool saw off Manchester United this afternoon with relative ease as they blew away Jose Mourinho’s men with a one sided display at Anfield.
The Reds looked far and away the better side throughout the 90 minutes, and it’s looking more and more likely that they can indeed finally land a first Premier League trophy and wrestle it away from Man City’s grasp.
The likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane remain key cogs, and they are going to be vital if the Reds are to have any success, but we at the Tavern think that if the club can add one or two more players of high quality, then the league will surely be theres.
And one man we think would be a ground breaking signing is Ajax youngster Frenkie De Jong, who has been simply superb this term as he seeks to win a big move away from the Dutch giants.
Rated at some £40m by Transfermarkt, the Dutch attacking midfielder looks a sure fire hit in terms of going on to be a world class talent, and there is little doubt a move to one of the giants of the game is on the cards in the near future.
De Jong has all ability in the world to go on and be a massive success, and if Liverpool could somehow snaffle him, it would send a huge message to the rest of Europe, whilst going some way to replacing Brazilian Phillippe Coutinho.
Liverpool fans, would you take De Jong? Let us know in the comments!
