Our Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern will be on pins all through the summer months, in order to see if their managerial position will remain the same following interest for their manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino has been recently linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with it looking likely for Antonio Conte to depart after the FA Cup final. With results not going Antonio Conte’s way this season after some fairly dismal performances in the Premier League, Roman Abramovich feels the way forward is a totally different style of manager compared to what they usually hire.
With the new man in charge, there is the potential of bringing over some Spurs player with him – such is the bond he has with his team, and our regulars will be hoping that Pochettino will bring in the superstars to make a bid for the Blues’ third title in five years.
Pochettino has had a fabulous time at the Lillywhites, despite not winning a trophy. So it’s obvious to see why the local Chelsea boys in the bar are getting a little excited over the recent links. Our landlord has had his say on who the Argentine should look to bid for from his former club…
OUR VERDICT – Christian Eriksen
The Danish star has been the lynchpin in the Spurs midfield this season, and for many a season he has been a constant high performer. Someone like that in the Chelsea centre would create a spark that has long been missing at Stamford Bridge this season.
His goals and assists would aid the team and certainly the strikers in particular.
Eriksen would be a fantastic addition and one that alongside Pochettino could certainly shape Chelsea’s future.
