Marco Silva’s first few months at Everton haven’t gone entirely to plan, but there is a sense that things are improving. The Toffees started the season very slowly, but their form appears to be picking up, and fans will be hoping that it continues for some time yet.
Though things are improving at Goodison Park, the same cannot be said the fortunes of one or two of Marco Silva’s players.
Ademola Lookman, in particular, has found it tough. He’s yet to make a single league start this season, and simply put, if Silva doesn’t change his mind on the attacker, it might be time for Lookman to leave.
After all, he enjoyed a very solid spell with RB Leipzig last season. He picked up a handful of goals and assists, and he quickly emerged as one of England’s most talented young players.
Packed with energy, technical brilliance and goalscoring ability, he looked ready for a regular role at Everton this season, but that just hasn’t happened. He’s played just 46 league minutes so far, and that’s just not good enough.
If Everton were doing well and winning each week, you could maybe understand it – but they’ve been struggling for goals, and Lookman has been unable to help.
The 20-year-old proved his talent with the England under-21 team last week. He scored a goal and proved to Marco Silva that he’s missing out by not utilising him.
Over the next few weeks, he needs to get a chance, or in January, the exit door could be calling.
