Our Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern will be fully expecting a mass exodus should Mauricio Pochettino leave the club this summer ahead of arriving at their new stadium next season, amidst recent links with Chelsea.
Spurs crept into the top-four places and finished top of the London league for the first time in a while. However, in the first few months of the season, it didn’t look too good for Mauricio Pocchettino has his team seemed to struggle following a fair few good years fighting at the top of the Premier League, though that looks to have been stopped for now.
Spurs have had a settled side for some time now, but our punters feel that it needs a serious shakeup and a certain revitalising ahead of next season for fear of it becoming stagnant – much like their rivals Arsenal, but they won’t want it to happen by Pochettino leaving.
If Pochettino was to leave the Lillywhites, many in the tap room believe such is the bond they have with their manager, many of the players may disperse. What Daniel Levy has to do, in our landlord’s eyes, is bring in a world-class player, and he thinks this one fits the billing…
OUR VERDICT – Nabil Fekir
Nabil Fekir has had one of his best ever seasons in Europe with Lyon and helped them to second place in the French League. He has banged in goals left, right and centre and helping Lyon level up this season.
Furthermore, his range of passing and direct dribbling ability would surely mix things up at Spurs and, he could be the player to sit and feed Harry Kane assist after assist.
With Tottenham often struggling to break teams down, he could be the man to unlock a defence.
