The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern think that their side’s transfer business is amongst the best in the Premier League. Typically preferring to buy players for small fees before turning them into European stars, Tottenham’s platform – led by Mauricio Pochettino – has been prolific for allowing the growth of young players.
Harry Kane and Dele Alli are, perhaps, the two most prominent examples – with each player now amongst the best in Europe in their respective positions.
However, whilst buying homegrown talent has been a core formula for Pochettino, his spending hasn’t just been limited to that.
Indeed, over the summer, Davinson Sanchez came in from Ajax for a relatively big fee in what was appeared to represent a shift in transfer policy for the Lilywhites.
It has certainly paid off, though. He has had a fantastic start to life in England, having forced his way straight into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that he has been one of Tottenham’s most impactful players this season, and so his arrival could tempt Pochettino to look abroad more often.
Fortunately, with the summer transfer window on the horizon, he may get an opportunity to do just that in the next few months. There are a number of players currently playing in Europe that would no doubt be right at home at Spurs, and they could prove to be fantastic signings for Tottenham.
With that said, if Tottenham sign these 2 players, they could both have a bigger impact than Sanchez next season…
