Manchester United have become the big spenders in this summer’s transfer window after they completed a big-money for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku over the weekend.
The Red Devils moved to bring in the Belgian international following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure at the start of the summer and the United fans drinking at the bar are delighted to have finally secured a big signing.
Rivals Manchester City started their summer spending a few weeks ago and the pressure was beginning to build on Jose Mourinho to start his business before United’s pre-season tour began.
And moving forward, Lukaku is quickly going to become the vocal point of the United attack in the coming season and it’s important that he finds some of his best form to take United up the table.
But the former Everton man is insistant that he will do things his way and won’t be compared to Ibrahimovic during his time at Old Trafford.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Lukaku said: “He (Ibrahimovic) did a wonderful job for the club.
“He was the main guy at Manchester United, and he’s a guy I really look up to and who I learn from a lot because we share the same agent. Here and there he sends a bit of advice to me, and it helps me improve.
“But I’m Romelu Lukaku- I’m not Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I will fill up the striker position in my way, but I know I have to work really hard and deliver more than I’ve done before.
The step up is going to be huge for the Belgian international but with United spending big money to bring him in, he’ll have to start delivering sooner rather than later,” he added.
