‘I’m ready’ – 24-year-old speaks out about life at Liverpool

For the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will go down as one of the summer’s best signings. He has had a tough few months since moving to Anfield, with the Englishman yet to tie down a regular first-team spot, but the supporters are keeping the faith. Against Maribor on Tuesday he came through with a solid performance, leaving the fans in the pub pretty pleased.

However, following that game, the midfielder has admitted that it’s not going to be easy to adapt to life at Anfield, and he also noted that he’s taking his time to adjust to his new surroundings.

According to the Daily Star, he said: “It’s a competitive team that I’ve come in to”.

Continuing, he added: “Everyone’s fighting for their place and I’m just ready for when I get the opportunity. I need to keep developing and learning a new style of play here and get used to that and then whenever I get my opportunities, try to do as well as I can”.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is clearly a top player, but he has found life tough so far. Fortunately, though, he is keeping his head down and working hard. He clearly recognises that he hasn’t been at his best thus far, but he’s biding his time and waiting for his chance to shine.

If he keeps performing like he did against Maribor, his time will certainly be coming sooner, rather than later. He controlled the game, and a goal was just what he deserved.

The Liverpool fans in the pub are now hoping that he will kick on.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Ox, as he is known, is one of England’s best players, but he has struggled at Anfield so far this season. He looked good prior to the move, but there was always going to be an adjustment period for the Englishman.

He has shown signs of improvement, but as he says, he’s going to have to bide his time as he continues to find his role.

The signs so far, though, have been pretty good.
