The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were shocked when Nathan Ake returned to the club a few days ago…
Scheduled to remain on loan with Bournemouth for the rest of the season, the Dutch defender was brought back by Antonio Conte, seemingly with the intention of giving him a chance in the Chelsea first team.
Ake, who has impressed on-loan, was always widely regarded as an excellent talent, but not even the most optimistic of Chelsea fans would have thought that he could make it at the club – so Chelsea’s change of approach towards on-loan talent is certainly a welcomed one.
Antonio Conte has been praised in the Tavern for his decision to recall Ake, but as of yet, Ake himself has yet to really speak out on the matter – instead opting to keep his head down and work on getting in the Chelsea team – until now.
For the first time, Ake has now spoken out on the decision to bring him back – by posting a picture of himself in training.
The picture, posted on his official Twitter page, shows Ake back in training at Cobham, with the caption ‘Good to be back’ – signalling the delight that the defender has at being back with the club.

Ake, who scored 3 goals during his time with Bournemouth, isn’t expected to come straight into the Chelsea first team – but it would appear as though he is okay with that. He knows what he’s getting into at Chelsea – but our landlord thinks that he definitely has the talent to succeed with the Blues.
With Marcos Alonso reportedly struggling with an injury, his chance could come sooner, rather than later.
Chelsea fans – thoughts?
