According to reports, Ederson is all but confirmed for a move to Man City – and the fans in the Transfer Tavern are pretty excited…
Claudio Bravo moved to Manchester last summer following the arrival of Pep Guardiola, and was widely expected to make a real impact in the Premier League. An ideal ‘Guardiola-style’ player, Bravo was said to be comfortable with the ball at his feet whilst retaining his qualities as a shot-stopper.
However, it hasn’t really worked out that way, and there have bene calls in the pub to replace him all season long.
Ederson, it seems, is Guardiola’s replacement of choice, and though he isn’t a particularly well-known name in England, his performances in Portugal have not gone unnoticed. Indeed, a recent stat provided by OptaJoe concerning his performances have drawn particular interest from those in the pub.
According to Opta Joe, no goalkeeper has earned more clean sheets since Ederson’s debut than the man himself, signalling him out as one of the nation’s top players.

This stat certainly seems to help explain why Guardiola is so keen, with Man City’s main problems in the 2016/17 season coming defensively.
Our landlord thinks that Bravo’s main flaw comes when faced by oncoming attackers, and given Ederson’s record, it certainly seems as though the 22-year-old is stronger in that field.
