The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their U23’s fantastic 5-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League 2. The U23 tournament designed to give the top club’s young academy players enough game time provided Liverpool with the perfect platform to avenge their 1-0 away defeat against Chelsea, with Yan Dhanda scoring the pick of the goals.
THAT IS WONDERFUL FROM DHANDA!

The young Reds surged into a 2-0 half-time lead and quickly made that 3-0 when Dhanda scored his first of the game six minutes into the second half. Chelsea showed that they had some life left in them when they pulled one back with just over half an hour to go, although it wasn’t enough as Liverpool restored their three-goal cushion just four minutes later. When the game looked done at 4-1, four minutes deep into injury time, Dhanda stepped up again to score his second and Liverpool’s fifth with a sublime strike.
The goal has had our local Kopites raving over the 19-year-old’s ability as his dominant display against the London side fired Liverpool to a final day win. The result means Liverpool’s U23s finish 2nd in the pint-sized competition, with bitter rivals Manchester United going down into the second group making the successful season even sweeter for the Reds. The youngsters will be keen to build on their success next season as they look to usurp Arsenal at the top of the Premier League 2, although is Yan Dhanda can continue scoring great goals, that shouldn’t be too difficult.
