Newcastle United supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their team’s trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, hoping to see their side build upon their excellent win over Manchester United last time out.
Rafa Benitez’s men edged the Red Devils 1-0 almost a fortnight ago thanks to Matt Ritchie’s second half strike, a result which moved the North East giants out of the bottom three and up to 13th place in the division. Yet the gap between themselves and danger stands at just two points, and several of our resident Magpies fans are aware that games like this weekend’s against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth will play a key part in determining their team’s fate this term.
Nonetheless, there is much optimism among those Newcastle fans lining up at the bar, and they are likely to be further intrigued and perhaps encouraged by a recent report from Milliyet (via Sport Witness), which suggests that scouts will be sent to watch Garry Rodrigues this evening.

The 27-year-old currently plays his trade at Turkish giants Galatasaray and has done so since January 2017, in which time he has proven his worth with seven goals and ten assists for the club, helping them to fourth place in the Super Lig last term, and second so far this time round.
And with five goals and seven assists this season, the Cape Verde international continues to go from strength to strength, and Newcastle are one side reportedly keen on luring him away from the Turkish club this summer after reportedly failing with two bids during January.
Yet recent reports underline the Magpies’ desire to land Rodrigues as an imminent scouting trip of the winger is in the offing, with Newcastle representatives set to be in attendance on Friday as Galatasaray face Bursaspor.
And Rodrigues’ efforts this evening may go some way to determining Newcastle’s future interest in the 27-year-old.
Landlord’s verdict: Newcastle reportedly failed with two bids for Galatasaray’s Garry Rodrigues during the January window, but it doesn’t appear that they are ready to give up the chase.
Reports suggest that an imminent scouting mission is in the offing as Magpies representatives are due to watch the 27-year-old in action against Bursaspor on Friday night, alongside scouts from other European clubs.
And with the Cape Verde international enjoying a rich vein of form, Rafa Benitez’s side will hope to see some of that this evening in a display which could go a long way to determining their future interest in the wing wizard.
