In contact: Man City already making plans to improve title-winning squad this summer

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t quite sure how their side can get any better. The Citizens have been nothing short of sensational over the last 9 months or so, with Pep Guardiola’s men really taking the game to their rivals in the English top flight.

However, despite their success, it doesn’t appear as though Guardiola is yet satisfied with the quality of his team. To the contrary, he appears to be making moves to improve it already.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Man City remain interested in a move for Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, with the Citizens clearly still open to the prospect of a move this summer.

Significantly, the two clubs are said to be in contact regarding a move, and so lines of communication are clearly open as the two parties potentially look to thrash out a deal.

Leicester City, of course, won’t want to sell a player of his quality, but given their sharp decline back to the level of a mid-table team, the funds that could be generated from his sale could be huge for the club.

Man City, meanwhile, are likely to receive a financial windfall from their title win, and so they could be free to spend even more wildly this summer and beyond.

Mahrez has been in fantastic form this season for Leicester City, bagging 12 goals and 10 assists along the way. It hasn’t been an easy season for the Foxes, but he’s been a shining light.

Landlord’s Verdict

Man City are a very strong offensive unit, but the arrival of Mahrez would, naturally, make it even better.

Champions in the past have fallen short by not improving their teams, but City clearly don’t want to face a similar fate.

Leicester City certainly have a fight on their hands if they want to keep Mahrez.
