Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are confident their managerial search is reaching it’s conclusion and they’ve been discussing reports of a new signing whilst they tuck into their meals this afternoon.
The Telegraph states that Italy boss Antonio Conte is confident he will land the position with the struggling Premier League giants and that he’s identified Roma’s Belgian international midfielder Radja Nainggolan as a prime target.
Conte, or any manager he lands himself the top-job in West London, has a mammoth task on their hands to overhaul what’s been a lacklustre side this season and Roman Abramovich will have to present large funds to rebuild the team.
Chelsea see Nainggolan as a more realistic option to that of Paul Pogba, who starred for Conte during his three years leading Juventus, though the arrival of the Belgian international could lead to an exit for either Nemanja Matic or John Obi Mikel.
Nainggolan, 27, would add a wealth of experience to Chelsea’s midfield ranks although he may have to concede Champions League football with Roma to move to the Premier League.
Our landlord believes the Belgian is a good target for Chelsea and he doesn’t think the Blues should have too many problems signing their man.
Chelsea fans, would Nainggolan improve your midfield ranks? Let us know in the comments below!
