Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for some wholesale changes this summer, although they’re divided on their views concerning one of their current midfielders.
The Daily Star says incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is ready to approve the sale of Nemanja Matic to Juventus. although he’s keen on bringing exiled loanee Juan Cuadrado back from Turin for next season.
Serbia international Matic was a key-part of Chelsea’s Premier League winning side last season, forming a formidable partnership alongside Cesc Fabregas, but he’s failed to replicate that form this term, which has added to Chelsea’s woes.
Conte seems keen to rebuild the Stamford Bridge side completely, with it stated a £20m deal for Matic’s departure has already been agreedwith the Serie A champions, and there’s a number of other players that could also leave- including Oscar, John Obi Mikel and Diego Costa.
Our landlord believes Conte needs to be careful not to change the squad too drastically, although he has admitted Chelsea would be best without a number of the players mentioned.
