Incoming Chelsea boss will not be given decisive say on transfers

ConteChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to a fresh start under Antonio Conte next season but the latest developments have seen them express some concerns.

The Daily Express state that Conte will not have the final say regarding transfers and, instead, the board will remain involved with signings- which hasn’t boded too well in recent years.

Technical Director Michael Emenalo will remain one of those in charge of signings, as long as he keeps his job as he has come under immense criticism for some lacklustre signings in recent years.

Conte will also be consulted about outgoing deals but the fact that he, like all other recent Chelsea managers, will not be given a free reign over transfers is concerning- especially as the squad needs a vast overhaul this summer.

Our landlord feels that by not giving Conte full control, the Italian will not be able to breathe a new lease of life into the squad and that Chelsea could continue with the same problems.

Chelsea fans, is this another wrong call from your board? Let us know in the comments below!
