Manchester United fans are smiling here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro report that their summer spending has finally begun, with Ander Herrera passing a medical at the club.
As one of our regulars notes over a pint, the Athletic Bilbao midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for over a year now and it seems to have taken the arrival of Louis van Gaal as manager to get it over the line.
Herrera has is not arriving on the cheap with the move costing around £28 million.
However, as one of our regulars notes, the money that United’s rival clubs are spending, not to mention the fact that they are clearly streets ahead of United after last season means that the cash simply had to be splashed.
It is not like the money is being poured down the drain either with Herrera representing a top player who has done well in La Liga for a while now feeling that the time is right to make the next step in his career – with the Red Devils.
Manchester United fans. Do you think this is a good move or will this just prove to be money down the drain? How many more players do you need to sign to get back on top? Let us know your thoughts below.
