Newcastle United breathed further life into their season this weekend with a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth at St James' Park.

Solomon Rondon was the hero for the Magpies this time out, and manager Rafa Benitez will have been delighted to see his team get another welcome three points after what had been a miserable start to the Premier League season thus far.

However, things could well be on the up, and with a couple of January additions, things might well start to look that little bit rosier for Newcastle heading into 2019.

And one man we at the Transfer Tavern would be a superb signing is Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Fraser, who has been in fantastic form this term, knocking in three goals already and providing six assists to go along with it.

The 24-year-old has really developed in the last couple of seasons, and now looks like being one of the most dangerous wide players in the league when he is on his game.

He won't be the most glamorous of signings or a big name so to speak, but Fraser is effective, and Newcastle need players who fit that bill in order to have some success this term.

Goals, assists, and a high work rate mark Fraser out as being a superb signing for a club like Newcastle, and Bournemouth will need to be on their guard if the bids do start to come in for the Scot.

Newcastle fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
