It's been a fairly poor start to the season for Southampton as they've only registered a single point in the league so far.

While they did beat Brighton in the EFL Cup in midweek, the fact remains that Mark Hughes has to get a win on the board to try and kickstart some form for the Saints.

After last year's relegation battle Southampton fans would've hoped that the club would start the season in much better fashion. He has been backed by the board over the summer as Southampton signed Angus Gunn, Jan Vestergaard, Stuart Armstrong, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Danny Ings.

However, in what is worrying news for Southampton fans, Mark Hughes has admitted that Ings could miss the game tomorrow with a foot injury.

It may not be a serious injury but it's certainly worrying news considering the forwards poor injury record over the last few years.

The Breakdown

Ings returned to his boyhood club late on in the transfer window on a season-long loan from Liverpool, in view of a permanent one next year.

Since he made the move to Liverpool in 2015, the forward struggled to get into the side due to terrible injury problems. Indeed, the most amount of games he played in the league for the club was nine.

While he struggled for games, Ings is still a talented player and could be a crucial player for Southampton if he can stay fit. The Saints struggled to score goals last season, and desperately need a forward to help them push up the league.

Southampton fans, what do you think?
