Injury forces Tottenham into the transfer market once more

whl.jpgTottenham fans are looking worried at the report from Metro who note that the club could well have to enter the transfer market and look for a central defender in the remaining month of the transfer window.

After playing a makeshift pair of Jake Livermore and also Zeki Fryers at the heart of their defence against Monaco – a move which saw Radamel Falcao score twice and the North London club lose 5-2 – Andre Villas Boas decided that adding another defender is a must.

Fans were already understandably furious after seeing one of their brightest prospects, Steven Caulker, sold to Cardiff City for £8 million after getting concerned over his chances in the first team, not to mention the injury to Younes Kaboul last season against Newcastle Рsomething the player is still struggling to overcome while William Gallas was also released at the end of last season.

Add to this the fact that skipper  Michael Dawson has suffered another injury setback and this means that money now has to be spent on a player to replace Dawson and the recently departed Caulker.

Add to this the likelihood of Gareth Bale leaving for Real Madrid and Spurs fans are looking quite down, reaching for their pints and questioning just who AVB could turn to this summer.

Should the club sell Bale they of course will have more money than they could dream of to spend and for the third time this summer they could well smash their own transfer record. As one of our punters quips, they may be tempted to buy Caulker back!

Have Tottenham made a mistake in letting Caulker depart? Who should they target now? Let us know your thoughts below.
