Injury to Marko Arnautovic could spell trouble for West Ham

It’s been a tough start to the season for West Ham as they’ve now made it three losses in a row following their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal yesterday.

What makes the loss even more tough to swallow was the fact that West Ham opened the scoring and for much of the first-half, looked like they could score whenever they wanted to against Arsenal.

Both Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio caused havoc down Arsenal’s flanks, the former looking especially impressive.

Through the middle, the at times petulant Marko Arnautovic looked superb and in truth could’ve scored more than his single goal.

Unfortunately, the Austrian international was forced off with a knee injury in the second-half and from there on in, West Ham’s chances of getting a point looked pretty bleak.

At the moment, it’s unsure how severe Arnautovic’s injury is but if it is serious, West Ham could well be in trouble.

The Breakdown

Among West Ham’s poor start to the season, one of the few bright lights in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad has been the strong performances of Arnautovic as well as Felipe Anderson.

The former Stoke City man has been a revelation in east London since he made the move last year.

Starting as a winger, the Austrian has been transformed into a lethal striker, scoring 11 goals last year and already scoring two in the three games.

With West ham desperate for a win, losing Arnautovic could be a massive blow, especially with Andy Carroll injured once again.
