Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating what to make of a fresh rumour they’ve overheard, which suggests the Reds are planning for summer business.
James Pearce of The Liverpool Echo has told their live transfer blog (14:25pm – 25/1/17) that he expects Jurgen Klopp’s side to move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt in the summer, having seen an advance for the Bundesliga man fall on deaf ears before the season began.
Brandt, who turns 21 in May, is one of Germany’s highest-rated young talents and Klopp is a huge fan of the youngster, with Pearce believing a move is likely this summer.
At his young age, Brandt has already racked up 80 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and made his international debut for Germany last year, boasting four caps for the senior side after featuring regularly for every youth side from the U15’s upwards – including at last summer’s Olympics.
Our landlord believes Brandt is exactly the sort of player Liverpool will be looking for and says he hopes this deal can go through, as he’d expect Brandt to shine in the Premier League.
Should Brandt be Liverpool’s prime summer target? Let us know in the comments below!
