Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are gearing up for this week’s mouthwatering Europa League final, and they hope it will provide the passage back into the Champions League for them, and they’re utilising their spare time by discussing some major transfer reports in the process.
The Daily Star quotes Dean Sturridge, the uncle of Liverpool striker Daniel, as stating that Christian Benteke will not be remaining at Anfield next season, with comments made during his commentary with NBC.
“I can’t see Benteke staying at Liverpool. He will get his move next season. He doesn’t seem to fit into what the manager wants from his strikers.”
Benteke has failed to impress since making a £32.5m move to Merseyside from Aston Villa last summer and the Belgian, Liverpool’s second-most expensive signing in history, has proved to be another major transfer flop.
Jurgen Klopp is also not short of striking options heading into next season as he has Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi available, whilst Danny Ings will recover from injury for next season and there’s still Mario Balotelli at AC Milan, although it’s unlikely he’ll come back into the fold.
