Inter who have been majorly under-performing under the ex-Liverpool manager find themselves in 6th place in Serie A and last weeks loss to arch rivals A.C. has had many fans calling for the Spaniards head.
During his time at Liverpool, Benitez was famed for bringing in countless Spanish players to Anfield and it seems with this landmark signing, history could soon be repeating itself at the Giuseppe Meazza. Arsenal have in recent times strongly denied any reports of their talismanic captain leaving the Emirates but, with Arsenals 5 year wait without silver wear could a move to the European champions prove to much.
Cesc, 23, has often intimated that a move to Spanish giants Barcelona would be his preferred move, if any was to take place. The fact that he would be playing alongside his Spanish team-mates Xavi and Iniesta would only add to his dream. The stumbling block on any Barca move would always be the fee involved.
Inter are banding around fees of £45 million upwards for the play-making midfielder which Barcelona are unlikely to be able to match, after their lavish spending this summer on David Villa and Javier Mascherano. Unfortunetly for Benitez it seems Fabregas has his roots firmly set in North London and a move to the Italian super powers is unlikely to appeal over a potential move to his boyhood club Barca when the time is right.
