After a fairly slow start to the season, West Ham’s form has begun to pick up in the league and as it stands, they have pulled themselves up to 15th after beating Everton, Man U, while also holding Chelsea to a draw.
Key to that form has been the play of attackers Marko Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson. Anderson has been a superb addition to the squad, while Arnautovic has continued his superb form up front and on his day, he remains one of the best forwards in the league.
The Austrian has scored four goals this year while also providing one assist and remains Pellegrini’s key man. With that in mind, it seems ludicrous that West Ham are interested in signing Edin Dzeko, as reported by Calciomercato.
Cast off by City in 2015, Dzeko has shown during his time in Italy that he is one of the most underrated strikers in Europe and has been a key part in Roma’s resurgence.
The former City man scored 16 goals in 36 games last year and is currently in talks with the Italian side over a new contract with his present deal set to expire in 2020.
While there is no doubt that he is one of the best strikers in Europe, with Aranutovic leading the line, it remains to be seen if the marksman would make the move to West Ham to sit on the bench. Moreover, despite being a superb forward at 32, he’s entering the twilight of his career.
