Arsenal fans have been left stunned in the Transfer Tavern today, after a prime target for Arsene Wenger’s side has rejected a move to the Emirates.
All Nigeria Soccer president Martin Agupo has confirmed that Nigerian ace Samuel Chukwueze, who was expected to join compatriot Kelechi Nwakali in north London, has completed a u-turn and will instead join Porto.
‘Chukwueze is going to FC Porto not Monaco. They are waiting for him to sign the papers but he couldn’t travel because he is with the Flying Eagles,”
“We don’t know the length of contract he will sign until we get to Portugal,”
The U17 international, who stormed to success with Nigeria last summer to win the World Cup in that age group, has been widely linked with a move to Arsenal and it was expected that deal would be completed imminently, having seen speculation drag on for a while.
However, the change of heart will leave Arsenal empty-handed but our landlord thinks it isn’t too much of a problem for the Gunners, as he wouldn’t have bolstered the first-team anyway.
