International side demand compensation for Chelsea target

SampaoliChelsea fans having a game of darts in the Transfer Tavern are concerned where their managerial search will lead them, following the latest developments from one man on their shortlist.

Don Balon state Chile have demanded Chelsea pay £4.1m to release manager Jorge Sampaoli from his contract, which would then leave him free to replace Guus Hiddink as the Blues next permanent manager.

Sampaoli saw his reputation rise last summer as he led Chile to Copa America success, beating Argentina in the final, and the Chilean manager is keen to end his association with his international employers imminently.

However, Chile are demanded compensation should any side end his contract with the team immediately but a small price of £4.1m is unlikely to end Chelsea’s pursuit, as Roman Abramovich has pockets full of cash to invest.

Our landlord believes Sampaoli would be a good manager for Chelsea but states he should be second on their wish-list behind Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, who should be their priority.

Chelsea fans, do you want Sampaoli to manage your club? Let us know in the comments below!
