Arsenal have to be at their best from here on in if they want to secure a top four spot, after settling for Europa League football in recent times at the Emirates.
Unai Emery has definitely helped Arsenal develop since taking over from Arsene Wenger, but things still aren’t perfect with a couple of signings required in the remaining days of the January transfer window.
Interestingly, the London club have reportedly (as per Sky in Italy) had a loan bid, with option to buy, rejected by Inter Milan for Ivan Perisic. And, it’s understood that the Croatian has now handed in a transfer request.
“Perisic has asked to leave but there is no offer for him. We will see in the coming days.
Sven Mislintat is set to leave his role at the Emirates on the 8th of February, so securing the services of the Croatian international would be the perfect leaving present for supporters.
Arsenal aren’t exactly blessed with a lot of resources out wide at this moment in time, with Alex Iwobi currently the only winger at Unai Emery’s disposal, which has forced him into deploying the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ainsley Maitland-Niles on the flanks.
Sven Mislintat will have a big part to play in solving that problem before he leaves North London, with Ivan Perisic looking like the answer to Arsenal’s prayers at this moment in time.
Interestingly, the former Wolfsburg man has reportedly (as per Sky in Italy) asked to leave Inter Milan after Arsenal’s loan offer, with option to buy, was rejected by the Italian club.
Despite their reported recent setback, the Gunners may be able to land their man with the Croatian now seeking an exit.
Perisic made a name for himself at the World Cup back in the summer months as he played a huge part in getting his home country Croatia to the final of the competition, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
“He’s decisive like Robben. He loves starting from the wide areas, and then finishing the move in the central areas,”
Arjen Robben is arguably one of the best wingers to have graced the game in years gone by, so being compared to someone of that stature just shows how special Perisic is as a player. And, it’s fair to say that he has certainly lived up to the hype up until this point as a constant danger in the final third for club and country.
Indeed, the 29-year-old possesses the technical ability to become one of the best players at the Emirates and his decision-making is second to none. The Croatian is very dangerous when it comes to delivering balls into the box, and his ability to use both feet and cut inside makes him almost impossible to defend against.
Arsenal aren’t currently offering much in the race for a top four place, so securing Perisic’s signature will be of huge importance as he could complete Arsenal’s attack. A front four that includes the Croatian, Iwobi, Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette would be almost impossible to stop.
