Introducing: The man to replace Harvey Barnes at West Brom, Emile Smith Rowe

Introducing: The man to replace Harvey Barnes at West Brom, Emile Smith Rowe - Features

West Bromwich Albion will be gutted not to have secured all three points against Norwich City last time out as they were pegged back at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies have established themselves as automatic promotion contenders in the current campaign, but their recent form has forced them to drop into fourth position.

Indeed, one thing that has contributed towards their recent drop in form is Harvey Barnes’ departure, as he has returned to parent club Leicester City in the Premier League.

So, this month could prove vital in the race for promotion as finding a replacement will be extremely difficult.

Harvey Barnes was the standout performer for West Bromwich Albion during the first half of the season, as well as establishing himself as one of the most promising players in English football. He managed to score nine goals and provided seven assists for the Baggies, which included a number of wonder strikes.

The Englishman will always be remembered as a hero by supporters for playing such a huge part in getting them into the position they currently find themselves in.

However, with promotion still being the main aim from here on in until the end of the season, it’s vital that the Midlands club bring in a direct replacement immediately.

Interestingly, one player who is reportedly (as per the Mirror, 14/01, 09:39) being linked with a move to the Hawthorns is Arsenal wonderkid Emile Smith Rowe.

The 18-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in English football this season, having produced six goals in 11 appearances in all competitions, which includes two in the Europa League, one in the EFL Cup and one in the EFL Trophy, as well as two in the Premier League 2.

Emile Smith Rowe has all the ingredients to become a hero at the Hawthorns as a very similar player to Barnes, with his dribbling ability, passing, skills and eagle eye for goal making him a dangerous asset. And, with promotion to the Premier League hanging in the balance at this moment in time, the Englishman has the quality and confidence to produce match-winning contributions and performances on a consistent basis.

Indeed, promotion to the Premier League is currently dependant on whether Moore can fill the huge void left by Barnes, so a move for Smith Rowe would gift them promotion.
