It has been reported in The Sun that Spurs are keeping tabs on Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel.
The 25-year-old is thought to be available for a bid of around £2million and with current first choice – Brad Friedel turning 41-years-old before the end of the current season, Spurs will be looking to give the experienced American some competition for his jersey and find his eventual replacement.
Schmeichel comes from a superb goalkeeping background with his father Peter, being recognised as one of the best goalkeepers of all time. Since breaking through first with Man City, Kasper has impressed at Notts County, Leeds and now at current club Leicester. His form this season has also attracted the interest of Bundesliga club Schalke who may rival Spurs in a bid for the Danish stopper.
Whether Schmeichel will want to make his third move in the past three seasons is yet to be known, he has cemented his place as first choice at Leicester who will also be reluctant to sell. There is also the question of would he settle for being an understudy to the frankly immense Brad Friedel instead of pushing for promotion next term with Nigel Pearson’s Leicester.
