According to The Mirror, Italian champions Juventus will make a £30million move for Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie – just as the forward’s wife confirmed their families’ happiness in London.
His wife Bouchra stated, “we have been in London for eight years now. As a family, we love it here.” – A statement which is sure to be welcomed by the Arsenal faithful who desperately want the Dutchman to sign a new contract with the club.
At times this season Van Persie has been unplayable, scoring a sensational 37 goals in 47 appearances for The Gunners. Earlier on in the season his performances dragged a poor Arsenal side towards the light until they finally gained form around the winter months – where they developed momentum for the rest of the season. Van Persie has been the pivotal man in Arsenal’s continued surge towards securing Champions League status for next term which will go down to the final game of the season.
Van Persie has been acknowledge for his brilliance this season by picking up the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year awards respectively, form which has also attracted the interests of Europe’s leading clubs.
The rejuvenated Serie-A side Juventus are one of those who hold a firm interest in the 28-year-old, with the Italian champions thought to be eyeing a £30million bid for Van Persie as they look to bolster their squad with a world class forward. Qualification to the Champions League is guaranteed for the Turin giants as they look to again challenge Europe’s finest in the Champions League next season.
With talks on a new deal being stalled potentially until after Euro 2012, it could be a nervy summer again for the Arsenal faithful regarding the future of one of their top players. With the likes of Fabregas and Nasri leaving the Emirates last year, Wenger would be livid to lose his star asset as he looks to rebuild his side into a title challenging side once again.
