Recently, Arsenal’s Russian attacking midfielder Andrei Arshavin has been questioned by a percentage of fans over his attitude in recent games.
The alleged attitude problem however, may be purely down to a deteriorating relationship between himself and the rest of the Arsenal squad, and indeed Arsene Wenger himself.
As of yet, those specific details remain to be seen, with nothing but a dead wall of silence as of yet. After a 5-1 win, The Goodplaya blog was naturally quick to praise Arsenal’s general performance against Shakhtar Donetsk, but Arshavin came in for some rather vivid and succinct stick:
“I can’t tell whether it is being lazy that is making him look fat, being fat that is making him look lazy or (more likely) whether he is both.
“Frankly, it is absurd. He is an outstanding, outstanding footballer who should be leading this team forward, not puffing around on the sidelines.“
It is only considering Chelsea’s “aging” squad that the tenuous and isolated rumours linking Arshavin to a move across London to Stamford Bridge hold any weight. But there is no smoke without fire, and right now Arsenal need to make some drastic actions if they are to once more be more than a match for Chelsea.
Should Arshavin leave? (Sensible) answers below…
