Chelsea supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been over the moon with how their side have been playing since Antonio Conte came in.
There has been a lot of talk in the Tavern about different players in the Chelsea squad, and one of those men is Eden Hazard.
After his dismal display last season, the question making the rounds in the Tavern this week is whether the Belgian midfielder is back…
He has made a good start to the season – but is the man who won the PFA Player of the Year two years ago truly back to his best?
There have been glimpses of the Belgian’s magic, but I am struggling to agree with those who are saying that he is in full form already.
It is clear for all to see that he has, at least somewhat, returned to his threatening self – running at defences and looking dangerous; but it is difficult to distinguish whether he is doing it as well as he did in the season that he inspired Chelsea to win the title.
When Eden Hazard is at his best he strikes terror into almost any defender that has the undesirable job of facing him – but now it seems as though the fear factor has left him.
To make matters worse, comical moments like his miskick in the Swansea clash will only reduce that notion even further.
There is no doubting that the Belgium international is on his way back to his best, as he has shown it in moments like his goal against Burnley – but he is not there yet.
By Christmas he could be the talk of the Tavern again, but at the moment players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kevin De Bruyne and Diego Costa are the ones being spoken about the most.
The punters who support Chelsea are desperate to see Hazard at his best, and he is definitely on his way there – but be patient with him.
He has played well so far this season, but it is a bit early to be labelling him as a man who has matched the brilliance of the 2014/15 season.
Be wary of rushing the word onto him, when he’s back you’ll know it.
Chelsea fans – do you agree? Is Hazard back to his best or not?
