Is this ball-playing defender the perfect fit for Tottenham?

Tottenham Hotspur supporters in the Transfer Tavern are intrigued at the possibility of signing Argentine defender Juan Foyth.

Spurs are allegedly interested in signing Estudiantes’ 19-year-old defender, but face competition in the form of PSG.

The Argentine starlet made eight senior appearances for his side last season; he’s emerged as one of the most rousing prospects that Argentina has to display.

Our landlord thinks that it would be entirely unrealistic and somewhat foolish to expect that Foyth could immediately integrate into Spurs’ first-team.

Nonetheless, there’s no denying his extraordinary talent.

Regarding the teenager’s key attributes, his passing and tackling ability are his notable strengths.

Similarities can be drawn between him and the likes of John Stones and David Luiz, expressive centre-backs who aren’t scared of playing with the ball at their feet.

During his brief career, the teenager has already established a tendency to carry the ball forward from deep positions, utilising his superb dribbling ability.

However, there are areas of his game that does require improvement.

Our landlord thinks that Foyth must improve his concentration, he must be able to identify the danger around him before opting to take a risk.

Accordingly, his decision making must improve.

When choosing to embark on advancing runs forward, he must ensure that he doesn’t endanger his team, if he’s dispossessed it often leads to precarious situations for his defence.

This degree of maturity and wisdom is what the youngster requires in order to improve as a player, in addition to becoming one of the best young defenders.
