The latest starlet to be linked with the Gunners is 21-year-old Aron Johannsson. The young Icelandic striker is on the North London clubs radar after bagging 10 goals in four games for AGF. Johannsson has the fastest hat-trick in Denmark’s history to his name alerting Arsenal to his talents. He took a mere three minutes, fifty seconds to bag his hat-trick.
Johannsson has nine caps to his name for Iceland U21s but has yet to decide who to play for at senior level. As he was born in Alabama in the US, Johannsson can decide between Iceland and the US. His speed and finishing have won him many admirers as has his versatility. He can play across all the forward positions, making him an ideal player for the Gunners.
Johannsson’s agent Magnus Agnar Magnusson has spoken about the interest in his client and his talent.
“Arsenal haven’t called me yet, but they’d be more than welcome. Aaron has the speed to succeed in English football, I can imagine English clubs will have scouted him. It’s natural they would show interest in a player who scores so many goals.”
However, despite this. Magnusson has made it clear that although Arsenal may be one of the best places for Johannsson to develop, there has been no approach from the Gunners.
“Of course it would be an interesting place for Aron to continue his development. That said we have heard nothing from Arsenal and at the moment we are concentrating on extending the deal with AGF. We are in regular contact with AGF and if they deliver an interesting enough proposal then we would be interested in extending the deal,” he said.
Johannsson’s contract is due to expire in June and the layer can begin negotiating a free transfer as soon as this January, however his ideal destination is unknown. His agent is confident that he can apply his trade in England, Germany or Spain.
That said, Arsene is one of the best at getting the most out of younger players. Arsenal have an excellent scouting system and there is no better place for a young, raw talent to develop as a player. If there is concrete interest from the club, then I am sure that Arsene will uncover another gem.
