The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a dominant win against Feyenoord this week. The Citizens have been unstoppable this term, both in Europe and domestically, and so they aren’t expecting much of a problem on Tuesday evening.
That being said, Pep Guardiola can’t take this game lightly, and though a few rarely utilised players might get their chance, it seems likely that a few regulars will be selected too. One such player is Sergio Aguero, who has found life tough under Pep Guardiola generally. Though still a fairly regular member of the first team, Gabriel Jesus was given the nod over the weekend, and given that the Brazilian scored once again, Aguero could find himself out of the first team again next weekend.
That gives Pep Guardiola the perfect opportunity to give him a chance in the Champions League. It must be noted that Aguero is no second choice, nor is he a fringe player. He’s one of the best players currently playing in Europe, and he’d likely be the most important player in the team for most of the other sides in the Premier League. However, he’s found it difficult to string together a few starts in a row in recent weeks, and so a big performance in Europe could be just what he needs.
He’s been pretty lethal this term, having already bagged 8 Premier League goals, and given how poorly Feyenoord have performed in Europe this season, this could be the perfect chance for him to prove his worth to Pep Guardiola.
He surely has to start – agreed?
